During first quarter, learning in seventh grade social students at South Middle School focused on medieval times. Students dove into Africa, Japan and Europe.
One of the key activities in this unit was a Medieval Europe research project. Students asked to choose a topic they were interested in and use the library to gather information about their topic. The research project also asked students to connect what they discovered to the world we live in today. The project wrapped up with a presentation day, allowing students to share their learning with fellow classmates, teachers and community members.
Following the medieval unit, students will move into the changing world unit where they will look at how the renaissance, reformation, scientific knowledge and exploration changed the world as people knew it.
