South Middle School Food Drive

How much food would you donate for the chance to throw pies at the principal? The principal, assistant principal and counselors at South Middle School (SMS) offered that exact incentive to the advisory with the highest number of food donations for the Waukee Foundation Scholarships Food Drive.

SMS students spent the month of November collecting food. This drive is the biggest food contributor for the Waukee Area Christian Food Pantry each year.

SMS was assigned Protein – canned tuna & chicken, beans, peanut butter or nuts. 2,123 food items were collected on November 20. Gabe Sink’s seventh grade advisory swept the competition with more 347 items. Pie tossing was on Tuesday, November 24.

Mrs. Kristi Rumph – 172 total items
Mrs. Laura Mueller – 172 total items
Mr. Codie Fetters – 78 total items

6th Grade total 882

7th grade top 3 advisories:

Mr. Gabe Sink – 347 total items
Mrs. Haylie Steffensmeier – 224 total items
Mrs. Erica Beals – 152 total items

7th Grade total 1241
